Attidiya Bird Sanctuary

Nestled amidst the populous suburbs of Attidiya sanctury just few minutes drive of colombo , is the serene marshland of the Attidiya Bird Sanctury. These wetlands are teeming with all manner of vibrant and interesting wildlife , with the resident avifuna , of course, being the highlight. Its home to over 166 different species of birds , up 71 species of charming butterflies an array of different fish, reptile and amphibian varieties . For  those of you want a relaxing break from the hustle and bustle of the commercial city, the verdent expanses of this sanctury can prove to be the perfect  tranquil escape.

Birdwatching enthusiasts should make it a point to visit this fantastic attraction  you will be awestruck by the sheer degree of biodiversity found just outside Sri Lanka’s commercial metropolis. If you are lucky , you might even catch a glimpse of some of the rarer denizens of Attidiya , such as the wily indian shg, the giant spot- billed pelican and the regal white  ibis.
